Sadie's Snacks

Food is what Feed Lake Highlands is known for. It’s in our name, and it is incorporated into every aspect of our ministry. We provide supplemental groceries to 200 families a month through our Food Distribution Program, but many people don’t know that we provide snacks twice a week to the students enrolled in our EPIC After School Program, and food is a big component of our Camp Experiences. We are enthusiastic about food!

Many people that get involved with our organization recognize the passion that our Team Members have for providing a healthy meal for their neighbors in the community, and we are so thankful for everyone who joins us in our ministry to end hunger in Lake Highlands.

Every person that joins us in our mission is truly a gift, and we love to highlight everyone that we can who enhances our ministry in their own way.

Today we are giving praise for Sadie Bono! In late January, Sadie turned 10 and instead of gifts, she asked for her friends and family to give her individually wrapped snacks that she could donate to the EPIC After School Students to enjoy every Tuesday and Thursday.

Sadie and her family volunteered during EPIC last semester, and while her mom and sister helped out with our craft table, Sadie sat with the 4th grade table and completed the homework that they had all been given in school that day. The students worked together to complete a particularly difficult math worksheet and by the end of EPIC that day, Sadie was just another 4th grade EPIC Student.

We are thankful for Sadie and her heart for those around her. We are so touched that on a day meant to celebrate her life, she used it to benefit the lives of others. And we are so grateful that Sadie chose to serve with Feed Lake Highlands and the EPIC Students. It is so special that at such a young age Sadie looks for ways to love others well and without knowing it, sets an example for everyone around her to do the same.
